THE GREEN HOME GRANT SCHEME
£5,000 TO £10,000 WORTH OF WORK IN VOUCHERS!
WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
THE GREEN HOME GRANT SCHEME
Under a new Government scheme launched in September 2020, vouchers worth up to £10,000 will be granted to certain households in order to make their homes more energy efficient, these will be issued to homeowners in England.
The Government's idea is to issue vouchers to be put towards energy efficiency improvements. The vouchers will be worth up to £10,000 for those classed as low income, those not classed as low income will most likely receive vouchers worth up to £5,000.
The scheme is fantastic for many reasons:
The scheme offers help towards home efficiency improvement costs, costs that many may not be able to afford.
The home improvements, funded by the scheme, will then help you further by lowering your energy costs, meaning you could save a lot of money!
The scheme will also help boost our economy and create many jobs during the terrible coronavirus pandemic. What a brilliant idea!
The scheme helps promote nationwide energy efficiency.
The available measures are split into primary and secondary categories.
WHAT WILL THE GRANT COVER?
The grant is split into ‘primary’ and ‘secondary’ measures. To qualify for the funding, you will need to install at least one of the 'primary' measures; which is either insulation, or low carbon heat.
Types of insulation eligible for a grant include solid wall insulation, cavity wall insulation, under-floor insulation, loft insulation and room in roof insulation.
There will also be the option to 'top-up' your existing insulation, meaning you might want to extend your loft insulation if required. Please note however that replacement insulation is not included.
WHO’S ELIGIBLE AND HOW TO APPLY
Vouchers worth up to £5,000 will not be income reliant. The properties eligible include owner-occupied homes, landlord-owned privately rented and social sector homes, and park homes. New builds are not eligible.
For the low-income scheme, only owner-occupied properties and park homes are eligible. Households receiving income-based or disability benefits would be eligible for a fully funded package (up to £10,000) of measures.
